To all the people now complaining that deficit spending is bad

Where were you when Bush started a war in Iraq AND pushed through tax cuts? Bush added almost 4 trillion to the deficit. That’s astounding when you consider the fact that he started with a huge projected surplus. And what did we get for that almost 500 billion in extra annual spending? Roads and bridges? Nope. Universal healthcare? Ha! No. High speed rail? No. A modern, world class electric power infrastructure? No. A crash program in alternatives/conservation/efficiency to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels? You’re kidding, right? A more powerful military? Enhanced security? Improved disaster preparedness? No, no and no.What we got for our extra 500 billion a year was exactly nothing. A bunch of that was because of taxes not collected. My tax break amounted to 2 carts of groceries while the annual benefit to the wealthiest amounted to approximately 4 years of private college. The rest was consumed in the sands of the Middle East, wasted, lost (who sends 9.2 billion dollars in cash into a war zone?) or otherwise pissed away.
