- Palin slams Obama’s spending in debut speech in Asia There’s a rule. When speaking overseas you do not speak ill of the President of the United States. When you’re overseas you’re an American ambassador. This has been a tradition for hundreds of years. It is unacceptable for a politician — any politician, but especially one of Palin’s stature — to break this tradition. It displays, once again, her ineptitude.
